Ahh, feels good getting out this first post, it's been a long time coming and I feel that I have some things to say on a variety of subjects.
I wanted to do a general post on Barack Obama, one of our nation's youngest senators from the state of Illinois. Many may remember him for gracing the cover of (I believe) Newsweek with the title that read something like, "Seeing Purple" after our recent presidential elections. He also gave a marvelous keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July of 2004. He quickly became the media's darling. It is understandable why many tout him as our nation's first black president. With a handsome face resting upon a tall frame, he was the first African American to become the editor of Harvard Law Review and his brand of politics has left many moderates hopeful of the future. After finishing his autobiography a few weeks ago, I can see why. I'm not trying to pitch the book so much as I am interested in seeing how this small forum receives his ideals. An excerpt from his book after returning to Chicago and finding it in worse shape than he left: "All too rarely do I hear people asking just what it is that we've done to make so many children's hearts so hard, or what collectively we might do to right their moral compass - what values we must live by. Instead I see us doing what we've always done - pretending that these children are somehow not our own." It's this kind of ownership and responsibility that Kennedy tried to plant in our hearts. This is our country, our poor, not someone else's and certainly not the governments; what can we do to collectively address America's problems. It is this inclusive approach to politics that pushes Mr. Obama's agenda past the polarizing rhetoric of a red and blue world. Lastly, his background looks a lot like many young Americans. Grew up in a biracial non-nuclear family (this means without a traditional mother/father team), attended college with the idea that he was somehow supposed to just fit in, walk the same line of march - find a job, get married, keep quiet, mind your own business. This is the American way that many of us have been taught. His alienation was nothing new; many of us fell a disconnected in some form or another. Anyways, this is all supposed to lead to the masterful question: Is our nation ready for a black president and is this president going to be the young senator from Illinois? -------------------- We must see the world through the eyes of another.

In a short response, I think when you compare the perspective and approach of Obama to those of Kerry and Bush, I'd say off the bat I'd support Obama versus either of the two major figures of '04.
I know I'm personally ready to have a president who is: 1. Ready to be fiscally responsible. 2. Ready to confront issues regarding our national moral structure in terms of valuing individuals regardless of economic strata. 3. Ready to be morally and ethically responsible in terms of our dealings with the international community. 4. Ready to tell American citizens that it is up to them INDIVIDUALLY to make positive changes. Be willing to say "it is not up to government to get these things done." 5. Ready to lead by example in terms of moral excellence. 6. Ready to shed all government discrimination and realize that individuals matter, not groups. I could go on and on. In short, I would vote for the best candidate in terms of principle regardless of that person's race, sex, etc. Is the country ready for an African American president? Tough call, I'd say there are major blocks that are well enough enlightened and major blocks that have not come close. Just give me a president who is not afraid to tell the truth. -------------------- Elevate Game

I don't know enough about him, but given the fact that he's a member of the democratic party and loved by the media I bet he is nothing special. It seems these days no one has a clear idea of what they want from a president or what a president's role is, so everyone just votes for the guy who seems handsome and charismatic. If he runs for president and wins, then I'm sure he's a bad president. A good president would not be able to win in our current culture.
About what I would look for in a president, there's only one criteria: Someone who's dedicated to and only to the protection of individual rights. It'd be hilarious if I was president, I'd probably veto ninety percent of the bills. -------------------- Hiding under the shroud of "peace," appeasement is nothing more than an excuse for the attitude, "I'm simply going to pretend this violence isn't happening."

Mr. Obama proved to me that he is just another typical politician when he went and helped Senator Robert Byrd raise money for reelection. Good ole Boy Robert Byrd was a Ku Klux Klan member for many years, all the way into his 30s (not just a youthful indiscretion) and achieved the rank of "Kleagle." He was a recruiter for the Klan and a good southern democrat. It still amazes me how you can be a racist, bigot, sleazebag, but as long as you are a good democrat and vote liberal, you are forgiven. But if you are a republican and give a compliment to someone who acted the same as Byrd, but eventually changed from Good ole Boy southern democrat to a republican, then you get hounded from your senate leadership position.
I believe Robert Byrd also supported making the confederate flag part of the state flag after he turned 50 years old. I was living in San Diego in 1980 when a Ku Klux Klan leader named Tom Metzger won a democratic primary for Congress. And House leader Tip O'Neill was very embarassed when Metzger started waving around a letter of congratulations that O'Neill's office had sent him congratulating him on his primary victory. But having a Klan member winning a democrat party primary certainly could not possibly mean that democrats could be racist. Several years later Tom Metzger changed his party registration to Republican, and the press and democrats screamed that this proved that republicans were racist, but when he tried running in a republican primary, the Nazi/Klan leader was severely trounced. But of course that still proved that republicans are racist. The same thing happened with David Duke. He won democrat primaries and that only proved that republicans were racist because he eventually also switched registration to the republican party where he got trounced. So Barack Obama is a black man who doesn't mind helping racist rednecks as long as they are democrats, but he will be the first yell racist at a republican who says that he believes everyone should be treated equally no matter what their skin color is. And that fundraiser Obama helped Byrd with was not that long after Byrd used the term "white nigger" a couple of times in a committee meeting. Yes, Obama has what it takes to be a good DEMOCRAT candidate for president. |

So Shmaloney, I'm interested in your take on Obama. Do you think he's the man? Do you see flaws? What was his story biography wise? I think you may know more about him than most others on the forum. Spread some wisdom if you don't mind...

I thought this opinion piece says a lot about Obama that I did not know. It also mentions some very grisly abortion details that I had not heard of before. It is much easier to blindly support something when you don't know the details.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article....RTICLE_ID=51121 (you can see the cartoon if the link works) Founded 1997 Wednesday, July 19, 2006 Morning Edition WND Exclusive Commentary Why Jesus would not vote for Barack Obama Posted: July 19, 2006 1:00 a.m. Eastern ? 2006 WorldNetDaily.com In February 2004, U.S. Senate candidate Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, sent a fund-raising letter with the "alarming news" that "right-wing politicians" had passed a law stopping doctors from stabbing half-born babies in the neck with scissors, suctioning out their brains and crushing their skulls. Michelle called partial-birth abortion "a legitimate medical procedure," and wouldn't supporters please pay $150 to attend a luncheon for her husband, who would fight against "cynical ploy[s]" to stop it? But that's not why Obama's opponent Alan Keyes said Jesus Christ wouldn't vote for him. Obama recalled Keyes' statement in a recent USA Today opinion piece but omitted his reasoning. I know his reasoning, because I was there. As a nurse at an Illinois hospital in 1999, I discovered babies were being aborted alive and shelved to die in soiled utility rooms. I discovered infanticide. Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted. BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002. But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. It only passed in 2005, after Obama left. I testified in 2001 and 2002 before a committee of which Obama was a member. Obama articulately worried that legislation protecting live aborted babies might infringe on women's rights or abortionists' rights. Obama's clinical discourse, his lack of mercy, shocked me. I was naive back then. Obama voted against the measure, twice. It ultimately failed. In 2003, as chairman of the next Senate committee to which BAIPA was sent, Obama stopped it from even getting a hearing, shelving it to die much like babies were still being shelved to die in Illinois hospitals and abortion clinics. (As chair of that same committee, Obama once abruptly ended a hearing early, right before Scott and Janet Willis, the parents of six children killed as a result of Illinois' drivers licenses for bribes scandal, were to testify in favor of Choose Life license plate legislation. I was there for that one, too. The Willises had traveled three hours. Reporters filled the room. Obama stalled. He later killed the bill when no one was around.) So, the reason Keyes said Jesus Christ wouldn't vote for Barack Obama was because of Obama's fanatical support of abortion to the point of condoning infanticide. I have framed on my wall a Chicago Sun-Times cartoon published during the campaign. Obama is holding a sign with "LIVE BIRTH ABORTION" on it. God is reaching down from heaven to a baby in front of Obama, and the baby is reaching up to God. Obama is yelling at God, "You keep out of this!" In his USA Today opinion piece, Obama admitted being "nagged" by the Jesus-wouldn't-vote-for-him statement, but only because he wished he'd given a different comeback. Obama insinuated opposition to abortion is based only on religion, lecturing pro-lifers like me to "explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all." I don't recall mentioning religion when I testified against live-birth abortion. I only recall describing a live aborted baby I held in a hospital soiled utility room until he died, and a live aborted baby who was accidentally thrown into the trash. Neither do I recall religion being brought into the partial-birth abortion ban debate. I recall comparisons made to U.S. laws ensuring animals being killed are treated humanely. I recall testimony that late-term babies feel excruciating pain while being aborted. Obama stated pro-life proposals must be "amenable to reason." OK, Sen. Obama, let's reason. Explain why you support abortion for whatever rationale, at whatever gestation, by whatever means. Explain why you support infanticide, if banning it might interfere with abortion. Then, since you brought it up, explain how, despite all that, you think Jesus should vote for you, either now or in the hereafter, particularly given His statement, "It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around the neck than to face the punishment in store for harming one of these little ones." Related special offer: "On Message: The Pro-Life Handbook" Jill Stanek fought to stop "live-birth abortion" after witnessing one as a registered nurse at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Ill. In 2002, President Bush asked Jill to attend his signing of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. In January 2003, World Magazine named Jill one of the 30 most prominent pro-life leaders of the past 30 years. To learn more, visit Jill's blog, Pro-life Pulse. |

From the DRUDGE REPORT, this story shows how slick talking press secretaries can spin, but when you delve deeper the spin turns into a flat out coverup lie. But then that is business as usual in politics.
Support The DrudgeReport; Visit Our Advertisers Obama Warns of Gas Guzzling Cars in Town Hall Meeting Tue Aug 15 2006 21:47:08 ET Illinois Senator Barack Obama warns citizens at his 50th Town Hall meeting about gas guzzling, WPSD-TV reports. It was among many points made to the standing room only audience at the Metropolis Community Center. Obama spoke on everything from DC politics to global warming. He says part of the blame for the world's higher temperatures rests on gas guzzling vehicles. Obama says consumers can make the difference by switching to higher mileage hybrids. Today the Senator said, "It would save more energy, do more for the environment and create better world security than all the drilling we could do in Alaska." "After the meeting... Obama left in a GMC Envoy after admitting to favoring SUV's himself," claimed local News Channel 6. MORE Tommy Vietor, Senator Obama's press secretary, explains: "What Senator Obama has long advocated is the use of vehicles that are more fuel efficient, including but not exclusively hybrids. "The vehicle senator obama travels in while in illinois is a Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV), which can run on e85, a blended fuel made of 85 percent ethanol. "So he in fact was practicing what he preached at the town hall meeting in Metropolis yesterday when he said we must drive fewer gas-guzzling vehicles." But it does not appear that GMC's Envoy is E85 ready. Developing... |

I read Obama's book and I can honestly say that he had a very sound message and, although I disagree with him on some things, he has some very sound and thoughtful premises behind much of his stance. I would rather have him as a president than either Kerry or Bush.

Sometimes it is the little things that indicate what the real person is like. I, like most people, have not heard a whole lot about Barack Obama. I have seen a few snippets about things he has said in speeches and interviews that later turned out to be greatly exaggerated or even totally false.
I now have huge doubts about his claims of racial harrassment. And I don't think we'll ever find out how or why he got his middle name of "Hussein." But it will be interesting how these things get reported. I don't think it is coincidence that stories like this one about Barack's dad being married to two women at the same time come from a British newspaper. Some of the best reporting on Clinton's infidelities came from British papers. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article...r.../article.do A drunk and a bigot - what the US Presidental hopeful HASN'T said about his father... 27.01.07 Add your view Top: US senator Barack Obama could be America's first black president. Below: His flawed father, Barack Obama Senior It is a classic story of the American dream made real: an impoverished Kenyan goatherd rising to become a brilliant Harvard-educated economist. On the way he fights racial prejudice at home and corruption at work, survives the heartbreak of a broken relationship and, despite it all, leads the fight to rid Africa of its colonial legacy. This extraordinary story is told by US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama as he recalls the life of the man who inspired him to political success - his father. Mr Obama's book, Dreams From My Father, is flying off the shelves of US book stores, exciting and astonishing readers in equal measure. It is a bestseller, and no wonder - because the story just gets better and better. Mr Obama is already Democratic Senator for Illinois. Now he is in the running to be the first black President in the country's history. "My story is part of the larger American story," he declared in the electrifying speech that won him his Senate seat just two years ago. "In no other country on Earth is my story even possible." Many believe Mr Obama is a serious threat to Hillary Clinton's hopes of becoming the Democrats' choice for their next Presidential candidate - and his lovingly written account of the debt he owes his father, also called Barack Obama, will do no harm at all to his Presidential hopes. Indeed, by offering up a conveniently potted account of his personal history in this way, he might even have made a pre-emptive strike on those sure to pose the awkward questions that inevitably face a serious contender for the White House. Yet an investigation by The Mail on Sunday has revealed that, for all Mr Obama's reputation for straight talking and the compelling narrative of his recollections, they are largely myth. We have discovered that his father was not just a deeply flawed individual but an abusive bigamist and an egomaniac, whose life was ruined not by racism or corruption but his own weaknesses. And, devastatingly, the testimony has come from Mr Obama's own relatives and family friends. Charismatic and with movie-star looks, Barack Obama Jnr has managed to steal some of Hillary Clinton's most influential supporters in the two weeks since he entered the US Presidential race. The 45-year-old lawyer depicts himself as a fresh voice for voters tired of the divisive rhetoric and self-serving ambition of established politicians on each side of the Democrat-Republican divide. His campaign to become the first black President is inspired, he says, by his love of the country that allowed his father to triumph against astonishing odds. Barack Obama Snr started life with the advantage of being able to read and write, but he also felt a profound sense of injustice. His father was a cook for British settlers in Kenya, who demeaningly called him their 'personal boy'. Grandfather Obama sent his son to a missionary school but after completing his education, the youth could find little work except goatherding in his remote village of Nyangoma Kogela, in the roadless hills of Western Kenya. At 18, he married a girl called Kezia. But Obama Snr was more interested in politics and economics than his family and his political leanings had been brought to the notice of leaders of the Kenyan Independence movement. He was put forward for an American-sponsored scholarship in economics, with the idea being that he would eventually use his Western-honed skills in the new Kenya. At the age of 23 he headed for university in Hawaii, leaving behind the pregnant Kezia and their baby son. Relatives say he was already a slick womaniser and, once in Honolulu, he promptly persuaded a fellow student called Ann - a naive 18-year-old white girl - to marry him. Barack Jnr was born in August, 1961. Two years later, Obama Snr was on the move again. He was accepted at Harvard, and left his little boy and wife behind when he moved to the exclusive east coast university. At the time, Ann explained to their son that his father had gone because his meagre stipend would not support the family if they lived together. But finance was the least of her worries. Mr Obama Jnr claims that racism on both sides of the family destroyed the marriage between his mother and father. In his book, he says that Ann's mother, who went by the nickname Tut, did not want a black son-in-law, and Obama Snr's father 'didn't want the Obama blood sullied by a white woman'. In fact Ann divorced her husband after she discovered his bigamous double life. She remarried and moved to Indonesia with young Barack and her new husband, an oil company manager. Obama Snr was forced to return to Kenya, where he fathered two more children by Kezia. He was eventually hired as a top civil servant in the fledgling government of Jomo Kenyatta - and married yet again. Now prosperous with a flashy car and good salary, his third wife was an American-born teacher called Ruth, whom he had met at Harvard while still legally married to both Kezia and Ann, and who followed him to Africa. A relative of Mr Obama says: "We told him[Barack] how his father would still go to Kezia and it was during these visits that she became pregnant with two more children. He also had two children with Ruth." It is alleged that Ruth finally left him after he repeatedly flew into whisky-fuelled rages, beating her brutally. Friends say drinking blighted his life - he lost both his legs while driving under the influence and also lost his job. However, this was no bar to his womanising: he sired a son, his eighth child, by yet another woman and continued to come home drunk. He was about to marry her when he finally died in yet another drunken crash when Obama was 21. Mr Obama's 40-year-old cousin Said Hussein Obama told The Mail on Sunday: "Clearly, Barack has been very deeply affected by what he has learned about his father, who was my father's older brother. "You have to remember that his father was an African and in Africa, polygamy is part of life. "We have assured Barack that his father was a loving person but at times it must be difficult for him to reconcile this with his father's drinking and simultaneous marriages." Said adds: "His father was a human being and as such you can't say that he was 100 per cent perfect. "My cousin found it difficult when he came here to learn of his half-brothers and sisters born to four different mothers. "But just as Africans find the Western world strange so Americans coming here will find Africa strange." Far from being an inspiration, the father whom Mr Obama was coming to know seemed like a total stranger. In his book, he attempts to put the best face on it. His father, he writes, lost his civil service job after campaigning against corrupt African politicians who had 'taken the place of the white colonials'. One of Obama Snr's former drinking partners, Kenyan writer Philip Ochieng Ochieng says, however, that his friend's downfall was his weak character. "Although charming, generous and extraordinarily clever, Obama Snr was also imperious, cruel and given to boasting about his brain and his wealth," he said. "He was excessively fond of Scotch. He had fallen into the habit of going home drunk every night. His boasting proved his undoing and left him without a job, plunged him into prolonged poverty and dangerously wounded his ego." Ochieng recalls how, after sitting up all night drinking Black Label whisky at Nairobi's famous Stanley Hotel, Obama Snr would fly into rages if Ruth asked where he had been. Ochieng remonstrated with his friend, saying: "You bring a woman from far away and you reduce her to pulp. That is not our way." But it was to no avail. Ruth sued for divorce after her husband administered brutal beatings. In fact he was a menace to life, said Ochieng. "He had many extremely serious accidents. Both his legs had to be amputated. They were replaced with crude false limbs made from iron. "He was just like Mr Toad [from Wind In The Willows], very arrogant on the road, especially when he had whisky inside. I was not surprised when I learned how he died." Ruth refused to comment on the abuse charges when we tracked her down to the Kenyan school where she now works. She said: "I was married to Barack's father for seven years so, yes, you could say Barack is my stepson. "Barack's father was a very difficult man. Although I was married to him the longest of any of his wives he wasn't an easy person to be around." Mr Obama has acknowledged that his father grappled with a drinking problem. But with a gift for words that makes Mrs Clinton's utterances seem stiff and stale, he has turned it into another component of the myth. Drink, he says, like drugs, are one of "the traps that seem laid in a black man's soul". Mr Obama claims that he, too, has been racially abused, even during his campaign for the White House. His mother, Ann, decided that he should get an American education and sent him back from Indonesia to Hawaii, where he was admitted to a ?7,000-a-year prep school, Punahau Academy, and lived with his maternal grandparents. And while there, says Mr Obama, he was tortured by fellow pupils - who let out monkey hoots - and turned into a disenchanted teenage rebel, experimenting with cocaine and marijuana. Even his grandparents were troubled by dark skin, he says in his book, recalling how once his grandmother complained about being pestered by a beggar. "You know why she's so scared?" he recalls his grandfather saying. "She told me the fella was black." Mr Obama says his soaring 'dream' of a better America grew out of his 'hurt and pain'. Friends, however, remember his time at school rather differently. He was a spoiled high-achiever, they recall, who seemed as fond of his grandparents as they were of him. He affectionately signed a school photo of himself to them, using their pet names, Tut and Gramps. The caption says: "Thanks... for all the good times." He worked on the school's literary magazine and wore a white suit, of the style popular with New York writers at the time. One of his former classmates, Alan Lum, said: "Hawaii is such a melting pot that it didn't occur to me when we were growing up that he might have problems about being one of the few African-Americans at the school. Us kids didn't see colour. He was easy-going and well-liked." Lon Wysard, who also attended the academy, said the budding politician was in fact idolised for his keen sportsmanship. "He was the star basketball player and always had a ball in his hand wherever he was," Wysard recalled. Mr Obama was later admitted to read politics and international relations at New York's prestigious Columbia University where, his book claims, "no matter how many times the administration tried to paint them over, the walls remained scratched with blunt correspondence (about) niggers." But one of his classmates, Joe Zwicker, 45, now a lawyer in Boston, said yesterday: "That surprises me. Columbia was a pretty tolerant place. There were African American students in my classes and I never saw any evidence of racism at all." Family members and acquaintances believe that the real cloud over Mr Obama's life has been the discovery that his father was far from the romantic figure that his mother tried to portray. A family friend said: "He is haunted by his father's failures. He grew up thinking of his father as a brilliant intellectual and pioneer of African independence only to learn that in Western terms he was basically a drunken lecher." This ugly truth, say friends, has made Mr Obama ruthlessly determined to use every weapon that he has to succeed, including the glossily edited version of his father's story. "At the end of the day Barack wants the story to help his political cause, so perhaps he couldn't afford to be too honest," said Ochieng. Significantly, it was only four years after his father's death that Mr Obama travelled to his father's ancestral Kenyan village. There he learned the full story of his father's life and met some of his relatives. One of his half-sisters, Auma, is now a council worker in southern England, but some of his other relatives are still living in huts in the village, without plumbing or electricity, farming a few scrawny goats and chicken and growing fruit and maize. They speak the tribal Luo language and depend on handouts from family members who have emigrated to the UK and the United States for their few luxuries, notably the transistor radios that they use to follow Mr Obama's rocketing political fortunes. He has positioned himself as a devout Christian (having found God, he says, after years as an atheist) and in a new book The Audacity Of Hope, timed to coincide with his campaign, he concentrates on his manifesto for 'reclaiming the American dream'. This tome contains one telling paragraph, in a section in which he fumbles to try to justify his abrupt leap into the national political arena: he is, he says, chronically 'restless'. "Someone once said that every man is trying to either live up to his father's expectations or make up for his father's mistakes, and I suppose that may explain my particular malady." This election has become a choice between "Bad" and "Worse" and the debate is about which one is "Worse." Luckily I live in a state that is locked up by Obama and it doesn't matter who I vote for, so I have the luxury of voting for a minor party candidate. If I was in a swing state, I would probably end up voting against Obama with a Juan McLame vote because of potential Supreme court nominees and because I think Obama is a sleazebag. Obama's friend, Tony Rezko, is awaiting sentencing right now for some crimes he was recently convicted of. Tony helped buy Obama's house and extra lot for him in a manner that is simply a laundered $300,000 bribe. Obama spent 20 years going to a Hate America/Hate Whitey church which I find especially sick when you think of his kids going there to learn to hate whites and America. And then the kicker is that there is absolutely no chance that Obama would ever associate in any manner with a "rehabilitated" abortion clinic bomber, but has no problem working with an unrepentant bomber of the Pentagon and Capitol. That you can consider a Pentagon and Capitol bomber who is free instead of spending life in prison because of illegal wiretaps someone that can be rehabilitated, even after he writes a book saying how proud he was of his bombing activities, just proves to me that Obama is an untrustworthy moron. And probably the sickest thing about Obama is his support for killing babies that survive botched abortions, which happens on rare occasions that include abortions performed at 6, 7, and 8 months along on viable babies that could otherwise live outside the womb. President of the United States is not the right office for him. He should be a Chinese Politburo member. This article is about a botched abortion and killing the live baby outside the womb, exactly the situation Obama voted for twice to make perfectly legal. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=...mp;pageId=77946 Biohazard bag baby's death blamed on unlicensed staff Civil case launched for girl born alive during abortion Posted: October 13, 2008 9:40 pm Eastern By Bob Unruh A civil lawsuit is being launched in the Florida case of a baby girl who survived an abortion procedure but promptly was shoved into a chemical-laden biohazard bag where police found the body nine days later. Officials with the Thomas More Society of Chicago say they have begun work with Florida lawyer Tom Pennekamp Jr. on the case stemming from the 2006 death of Shanice Denise Osbourne. A funeral is scheduled tomorrow for the infant, 27 months after she survived an abortion at the A Gyn Diagnostic Center in Hialeah, Fla. In front of her shocked mother and a stunned clinic worker, "Shanice was stuffed into a medical waste bag filled with chlorine bleach just after she was delivered alive by abortion clinic owner Belkis Gonzalez," the non-profit legal group said. "This all took place without any licensed medical personnel (doctors or even nurses) in attendance." Although investigators previously have told WND they were pursuing criminal counts for Shanice's death, no charges have yet been filed. The charges apparently have been delayed or prevented because of the abortion procedure. "While the Miami-Dade County medical examiner determined that Shanice was born alive, he concluded her death was 'natural,' resulting merely from her 'extreme prematurity,'" officials with the Thomas More Society said. "Then so-called 'experts' publicly claimed that unless an infant could be proved to be 'viable' – able to live on her own – her killing could not be condemned as 'homicide' or otherwise culpable as a matter of law." WND reported earlier when the death was reported, and then again when authorities confirmed the baby had been born alive. The investigation was delayed even though a search warrant cited probable cause for investigation of second-degree murder, because, according to the Thomas More Society, "the clinic owner put the baby's corpse on the building's tin roof where it decayed for days under the hot Florida sun." "But police were called again. This time they found the body," the report said. The legal group said the only formal disciplinary action that has been taken to date is a restriction imposed on the abortionist, Paul Renelique, who faces a further hearing Nov. 19. The society decided to intervene last year when it was clear criminal counts were not coming immediately. An investigator was hired, facts and witness statements documented, police consulted and a pathologist was retained. The expert, the Thomas More Society said, "critiqued the coroner's botched findings and found that A Gyn Diagnostics' unlicensed staff did play a causative role in the infant's death." That's when the Florida attorney was consulted, and the process of notifications to bring a lawsuit over the "wrongful death" of Baby Shanice was started. The circumstances at the clinic have been confirmed, because after police intervened and started investigating the call from the clinic worker, 18-year-old Sycloria Williams came forward to confirm she gave birth to a living girl in the facility's recovery room, and staff then began screaming "that the baby was alive." "Ms. Belkis Gonzalez cut the umbilical cord, threw it into a red bag with black printing. Ms. Gonzalez then swept the baby, with her hands, into the same red bag along with the gauze used during the procedure," the police search warrant stated. At the time the body was found, a lawyer for the abortion business issued a statement that no crime was committed, and an 18-year-old had had an abortion without complications. But Tom Brejcha, president of the Thomas More Society, said, "Just because a human being is feeble or disabled and supposedly can't live independently, on his or her own, doesn't mean that anybody has the right to kill him or her. "If you suffocate a dying elder with a pillow, you're guilty of homicide," he continued. "If you fail to examine, or aid, or treat an infant – once born – who is struggling for breath and who – with proper care – has any chance to survive to live a healthy life, you should be held equally guilty." He said a funeral service is scheduled tomorrow at the Worldwide Christian Center Center in Pompano Beach, and burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale. "Killing a baby born alive is still infanticide, and those responsible must be held to account civilly if not also criminally," Brejcha said. WND columnist Jill Stanek said the baby's brief life and her death "demonstrate the need for the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. While it was legal to kill Shanice pre-birth, it was "wrongful death" to do so after, even if she wasn't viable. "This is exactly the age baby Barack Obama as state senator fought against giving legal personhood status," she wrote. |

I think this guy is the brightest young man running around on the opinion scene these days, so I think his views are worth considering. And this Hoover-Roosevelt-Bush -Obama comparison is quite interesting. http://worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE...mp;pageId=85876 Reinforcing failure Posted: January 12, 2009 1:00 am Eastern by Vox Day After eight years, it is eminently clear to conservatives and liberals alike that George W. Bush is one of the worst presidents that the United States has ever suffered. His incompetent handling of what were completely predictable economic crises is historically rivaled only by his fellow Keynesian in laissez faire clothing, Herbert Hoover. Like Bush, Hoover inherited an economy just reaching its inflationary peak. And like Bush, Hoover refused to accept the laws of economic gravity, thus turning what should have been a normal recession into what is now known as the Great Depression. But there is no problem so great that the credentialed experts of the nation cannot exacerbate it. Hoover was terrible, but Roosevelt managed to be worse. Hoover attempted to meet the challenge posed by the 1929 crash by a wide range of federal interventions that increased federal spending 34 percent during his four years in office; this was little more than one-third of the 98 percent increase under Roosevelt prior to World War II. Federal spending increased 63 percent under Bush, which divided by his two terms means that he spent nearly as much on a term-by-term basis in the same futile attempt to fight off economic contraction as Hoover did. And President-elect Obama is giving every sign that he will do his level best to repeat Roosevelt's reinforcement of Hoover's failure when he declared: "Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy." Government will not break those cycles. It cannot do so because it is government itself that is causing those vicious cycles that are crippling the American economy. Moreover, it is clear to anyone who is paying attention that Obama is aware his plan is not going to work because the claims made on its behalf are changing on a monthly basis. "Biden told an audience in this economically distressed battleground state that the Democratic presidential candidate's public works projects would create two million jobs nationwide, including 76,000 new jobs for the middle class in Ohio." – Oct. 15, 2008 "President-elect Barack Obama said this weekend he's planning to introduce an economic recovery program that would create 2.5 million jobs by January 2011." – Nov. 24, 2008 "President-elect Barack Obama has increased his employment goal with the nation's economic outlook worsening, seeking to create or save three million jobs in the next two years instead of the 2.5 million he proposed last month." – Dec. 20, 2008 "President-elect Obama raised the jobs forecast for his stimulus plan from three million to as many as four million on Saturday, upping the ante of his economic blueprint for the second time in three weeks." – Jan. 10, 2009 There hasn't been this much desperate tap dancing around statistical predictions since the global warming charlatans first realized that their computer models corresponded with actual temperatures being observed about as closely as a Hamas rocket barrage to a strategic Israeli target. The Keynesian economic model upon which the Obama plan is based, and with which the mainstream media frame all discussion of the economy, isn't just outdated or broken, it is less viable than frozen monkey embryos implanted into a post-menopausal woman at an IVF clinic in Tijuana. It is less credible than the Minnesota senatorial election farce. It is, in short, a dead parrot. It was a little more than four months ago, on Aug. 28, 2008, that the Bureau of Economic Analysis was reporting that GDP growth for Q2 2008 was 3.3 percent and suggesting that the "recession" might be over. Only a month later, that 3.3 percent was revised down to 2.8 percent; no doubt the final report on Q3 2008 will be further revised down from the negative .5 percent that has already been revised down from negative .3 percent in the advance report. These differences may seem small, but collectively they amount to major variances that suffice to render the entire exercise in federal economic intervention an utter fool's game, and no amount of printing worthless money to pay useless workers to build pointless infrastructure will change that. It has often been said that those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it. The great tragedy of Obama's insane reenactment of FDR's prolongment of the Great Depression will be that the history was not unknown, but rather, willfully ignored. |

i guess all we can do is wait and see how this shakes out, eh Sonora Joe? i have no doubt focused on the 'rah rah' rhetoric that obama has masterfully presented. mostly because i want to hear and believe it. i agree that no politician in our current system, or human being for that matter, has all the answers. alas, no one is perfect. i do, however, believe that the multi-cultural background (including drugs and alcohol which i will address later) and the trials of his upbringing, are indeed a strength - not a weakness. we are the sum of our experiences. in my opinion, president obama has seemingly 'spun' his experience into a positive - something to learn from (and hopefully not a cycle to be perpetuated). then again, i'm relying on information presented to me (or carefully crafted), i suppose a certain amount of trust is involved there.
on the topic of drugs and alcohol. i am a recovering alcoholic, drugs were also a huge problem for me. while president obama 'dabbled,' i jumped in head first. the person i have become is directly related to my experiences and struggles with addiction. i have learned from them, no longer do i refer to my past failures as 'mistakes.' if i hadn't learned anything, if i had continued on my path, unchanged, unaware of an alternative, THAT would have been a mistake. hopefully, my unearned faith in president obama will ring true in 4, and maybe 8 years. only time will tell... we all have skeletons, some worse than others. surely if you were running for office you would put a 'spit shine' on your life's story. maybe his recollection speaks to his OPTIMISM, his belief in change, rather than a crafty ploy to steal the presidency. WE SHALL SEE!! -------------------- grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change,
courage to change the things i can, and wisdom to know the difference. dave kolarik |

Dave, congrats on your learning process. May your days be brighter and brighter from here on.
As for Obama, I will be judging him by his fruits rather than rhetoric on any side. As of now, I give him a C/C- for his work as President. -------------------- Elevate Game

A grade of C/C- is pretty generous for Obama from my point of view. If Obama was a Republican, he would already be proclaimed a worse president than Bush. I do not know of any president who has botched the launch of his presidency worse than Obama. Just off the top of my head, I'll list some of the things that he has screwed up. Before he even gets inaugurated, he communicates with a corrupt governor about who he wants to replace him in the senate and then lies about it. He then has to testify to a grand jury about it, and he still has not told everything about his aides and their talks with Blago. So one of the first things he does as president is to make a policy that he will not hire any lobbyists in his administration. And then he breaks the policy and nominates a lobbyist less than 24 hours after making the new rule. Then after pledging to bring ethics back to the presidential administration, he nominates three tax cheats and a bribe taker to his cabinet. And now we have a treasury secretary who should be doing jail time for his tax evasions in charge of a $350 billion dollar slush fund- the second half of last September's $700 billion bank bailout. And this cheat is now babbling about needing another trillion or two for the banking system, but he can't explain why he needs it or how he came up with the amount. Then he nominates a sleazeball ex-senator who's excuse for not paying $140,000 in taxes is that he was too stupid to realize he was supposed to pay it. And Obama says don't worry about the little mistake he still stands behind this guy and this guy would be a great asset to his administration and the country needs another tax cheat helping to run it yada yada yada. Then we get the $800 billion dollar "stimulus" bill with everything except stimulus in it. The congressional budget office comes out and says the bill will give no significant help to the economy and will likely do more harm than good. So our great new leader comes out and says doing something quickly is more important than getting it right. Can you imagine a republican getting a free pass and applause for such idiocy? It is beyond comprehension. So part of getting it done fast is to violate the other promises of giving the public 5 days of time to look it over in a searchable electronic format before he signs it, and for congressman to get 48 hours to view the bill in searchable format before they vote on it. And what do they do? They intentionally put it out in a pdf file so it would not be searchable and give Congress 10 or 12 hours in the middle of the night to look at over a thousand pages of pork and crap. He applauds Congress for voting on an 800 billion dollar bill that nobody has read and nobody knows what is in it. We are going to be suffering bad repercussions from this bill for decades. It has a section that allows government workers to over rule a doctor's advice for medical care and to have a national database for everyone's medical records. It has a part that eliminates all but token bonuses for banks that got bailout money last year. So now they have established the precedent that if you get government money, the government can tell you how much you can pay people. How would you like it if you were told what major in college you had to take since you received a government grant or maybe just a government subsidized loan? That's the kind of ideas and precedents in this bill. It's the new American style fascism started by Bush and now brought to you by Obama. It took Bush months for me to develop a loathing of him. It has only taken Obama a bit less than 4 weeks. My grade for Bush was an F+. I used to think it would be impossible to be a worse president than Bush. My initial evaluation of Obama is that he has the solid potential to be worse than Bush and that he has taken the first steps towards getting there. My sad prediction, we suffer a significant terrorist attack within 8 months of his inauguration and no significant improvement in the economy for at least 18 months. |

Luckily my prediction of significant terrorist attack within 8 months did not come true. We only had the massacre in Texas by the Muslim army traitor, and the Christmas bombing of the airplane was after 8 months and failed to kill 280 Americans because of the luck of bad mixing of bomb materials. But unfortunately, Obama is worse than that idiot Bush. If he was secretly trying to destroy this country, I don't know what he would be doing differently than he has been doing. One and a half trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see, Iran and North Korea laughing in his face when he says anything about their bad behaviors, and killing off what's left of the economy seem to be his accomplishments. Mr. Editor, what grade do you give him now? He gets a solid F from me.
