War is a Racket
War is a great tool for unscrupulous people in positions of power to use for personal or associate gain.
When war is paid for by taxpayers it provides a huge incentive for connected groups to continue war in order to fleece the taxpayers (and therefore all American people, because without the fleecing, the money would be used for more productive purposes that would employ others, reduce the cost of goods, and generally bolster the overall economy).
This is how it works:
Step 1 - The government seizes wealth of its population via taxation or inflation.
Step 2 - Money is used to build bombs, armor, vehicles and a variety of weapons.
Step 3 - The people that make these weapons (the “defense industry”) pocket hefty profits as they design and build weapons that the government buys.
Step 4 - During war these bombs, armor, vehicles and weapons are destroyed very rapidly.
Step 5 - The government needs more resources to continue the war effort.
Step 6 - (Same as Step 1) - The government seizes wealth of its population via taxation or inflation.
Continue steps 1-5 until the war ends…
Do you see how certain politically-connected organizations can make A LOT of money off the backs of the productive American people?
It is basic common sense. War in general, and the Iraq War in particular, is a racket.
(George W. Bush has the idiocy, or should I say gall, to assert that war “helps the economy” - this is one of the most ridiculous things any president has ever said. It would be like saying blowing up office buildings and taxing people to rebuild them would be good for the economy. What a joke!)
The racket-driven Iraq War should be ceased immediately before more harm is done to everyone involved.
