Largest Steroid Bust in History plus Chinese Summer Olympics
The sporting world has been roiled by a good number of controversies lately. Mike Vick and dog fighting, an NBA official throwing games, a steroid user breaking the all-time home run record, OJ resurfacing (unfortunately) plus more.
Now the DEA has announced the largest steroid bust in US history. It appears as though much of the supply link is connected to China and it brings up some serious questions regarding the cleanliness of the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics to be hosted by China. Click here for the ESPN report.
I really believe that the 2008 Summer Games will be a pretty big turning point in the global socio-economic-political environment as China has played a huge role in financing many of the global imbalances of the past five years. My theory is that Chinese leadership has its eye on the Summer of 2008 and the Games as its target point to ensure that everything stays as stable as possible. The only problem is, they may be fomenting larger imbalances for longer than they would otherwise go, which could lead to even larger adjustments in the coming decade.
For now, the focus is on ‘roids yet again, however. Will we have a tainted Olympic environment?
