NFL, NBA, MLB = Controversy

The three major sports leagues are all being rattled at the same time by major scandals.

NFL: superstar Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick faces federal charges for organizing an interstate dog-fighting ring. Very ugly. So far Vick has been dismissed from the start of training camp and it looks like one of the league’s former bright stars could be at the end of his tenure as a primetime persona.

NBA: a referee has been busted for “engineering” outcomes in key basketball games in order to make money for himself and general mob thugs paying his way. The integrity of the game is significantly called into question.

MLB: admitted steroid user Barry Bonds hones in on one of the most respected records in all of sports, the all-time career home run record of 755 currently held by Hank Aaron.

So we have dog-fighting, gambling/thrown games, and known steroid use as some of the key stories in sports right now. What a shame. Is it just a coincidence or a sign of the overall decadence in the once great U.S. of A.?

Only time will tell. Interesting times indeed.

  1. It sucks. I had to stop watching any big-time sports (including college football) because of all the crap that they try and get away with. I really liked college football too, but I’m firm about boycotting things I don’t like.

  2. Dog fighting…I am sooo disgusted!

    Those poor doggies…
